Although the below image was made in early September 2021, it’s always had a bit of a Xmas feel for me, so I’m embedding it to engender, hopefully, a bit of seasonal cheer.
Happy Holidays everyone!

Very holiday-ish and a lovely intimate scene! For our holiday cards this year I finally printed my own, using a scene of Monument Cove in Acadia after a fresh snowfall in January 2022. Getting there for sunrise was a minor adventure — they didn’t plow the road and open the gate until mid-morning, despite their claim to keep that section of the loop road plowed and open. So I had to leave my wife in the truck at the gate and hustle through the snow (which fortunately was only ~6″ of light powder) to reach the cove by sunrise (managed to arrive, perspiring, in the nick of time). Watched a coyote cross the road just behind me and only saw one other person — a photographer on cross country skis who came in from the other end of the road. I’d been checking 10-day weather forecasts for Bar Harbor for five years, looking for a snowstorm with a clear morning the next day, and finally found one when we could go.

Thanks, Steve.
Do you have a link to that Acadia image?

No, I didn’t shoot enough to make a gallery of images so I haven’t posted on-line. I’m saving these images for future holiday cards. I did get a nice sunset that evening at Bass Harbor Head Light. I was glad that worked out because of the price I paid for the image. While scouting the lighthouse mid-morning, I slid off the snowy rocks below the lighthouse and bounced the top of my head off one of the boulders, cutting a nice gash in my scalp through my knit hat. My wife insisted it needed stitches (she was quite right), so I had a really great encounter in the Bar Harbor E.D. and had it stitched up. Since I was alone on the rocks, I was thankful my head was hard enough so I didn’t have a worse injury. Stupidly, I hadn’t worn my spikes — had them in the truck but didn’t put them on. Needless to say, I wore them when I went back to shoot that evening!

Yes, I agree. This lovely montage of nature, for me, screams Christmas. I love it!
